Botulinum Toxin
Botulinum toxins are a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium A. The FDA approved Botulinum toxin for medical use in 1989 and the commercial form of Botulinum toxin A was marketed as Botox. We use a purified form of Botulinum toxin-A that is diluted to a very controlled solution and when injected, it temporarily paralyzes your muscle activity. Medically, Botulinum toxin is used to treat chronic migraine, TMJ and a variety of other conditions. Treatment with Botulinum toxin can cause your facial expression lines or wrinkles to be less noticeable or essentially disappear. The effects of Botulinum toxin last for up to three months, with noticeable results typically appearing two days to two weeks after treatment.
There are a few basic requirements for those who wish to receive Botulinum toxin:
You are over the age of 18
The area of skin being treated must be free of infection or injury
You are not pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
You do not have any diseases that affect your muscles or nerves
You are not allergic to any ingredients
No big events within 2 weeks of treatment
During the procedure, a disinfectant is applied to the area. Botulinum toxin is diluted to a very controlled solution and is injected into the muscles with a micro-fine needle. Patients may feel a slight burning sensation when the solution is being injected, but pain is minimal as the needle used is microscopic and narrow. Ice and pressure are applied after the injection. The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes and the results can last up to 3 months. With repeated treatments, the results may tend to last longer. Bruising, swelling, pain, tenderness, numbness and redness in the treatment area are common side effects. It can also be common to experience a headache, and very rarely may experience drooping eyelids. These side effects reduce gradually and disappear within a few days. These side effects are very common and do not cause any severe damage.
After the treatment, you will be asked not to:
Lie down for a few hours
Rub the area that was treated
Exercise or perform strenuous activities for at least 24 hours
Microneedling With Blood Therapy Injection
Microneedling uses tiny sterilized needles to create tiny holes that cause the skin to produce more collagen and elastin by stimulating it to repair itself naturally through a process called dermal remodeling. This process heals and helps to rejuvenate the skin. Microneedling can be used to treat things like acne scarring, sun damage, surgical scars, burns, enlarged pores, wrinkles, and stretch marks.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) uses concentrated platelets harvested from the patient’s blood to accelerate this healing process. Blood is drawn from the arm and spun down in a centrifuge to isolate the PRP. PRP is applied to the surface of the skin and penetrates the holes created by microneedling. It enhances collagen and elastin production in deeper skin levels. The addition of PRP to microneedling produces superior results over microneedling alone.
Dermal Filler
Treatment with dermal fillers can smooth out facial folds and wrinkles, add volume to the lips, and contour facial features that have lost their volume and fullness due to aging, sun exposure, illness, etc. Facial rejuvenation can be carried out with minimal complications. These dermal fillers are injected under the skin with a very fine needle. This produces natural appearing volume under wrinkles and folds which are lifted up and smoothed out. The results can often be seen immediately.
There are a few basic requirements for those who wish to receive dermal filler:
You are over the age of 18
The area of skin being treated must be free of infection or injury
You are not pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
You are not allergic to any ingredients
No big events within 2 weeks of treatment
During the procedure, a disinfectant is applied to the area. The area is then numbed with a topical anesthetic. A dental block can be administered to decrease the amount of pain experienced. Dermal filler is then injected into the mid-dermis with a microneedle. Pain is minimal as anesthesia is used and the needle used is small and narrow. Ice can be applied to the area after the injection for the first hour after treatment for 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off. The procedure takes about 60 minutes and the results can last up to 12-18 months. Bruising, swelling, pain, tenderness, numbness and redness of the treatment area are common side effects. Very rarely lumpiness, granuloma formation or localized necrosis can occur if a blood vessel occlusion occurs.
After the treatment, you will be asked not to:
Apply makeup or lipstick until the following day
Touch, press, rub or manipulate the area
Pucker, kiss, suck or have dental procedures for 2 weeks
Exercise, perform strenuous activities and excessive sun or heat exposure for at least 3 days
